The Reason Happiness Eludes Me
There is a commercial on right now for some amusement park, probably some place in the southern states that would be open now, but I can't remember the name. Anyway, it goes something like this:
"Attention Workoholics:" [quick flashing scenes of amusement park fun]
"It's time to fall off the wagon!!" [more quick flashing scenes of amusement park fun]
"Come to [Amusement park] now for only $[outrageous price]"
I don't wish to be overly pedantic, but in the general vernacular when you "fall off the wagon" it means that you've reverted back to the bad behaviour that you were trying to avoid while you were "on the wagon".
So the commercial is really saying, "Attention Workaholics: It's time to go back to working too much in an effort to avoid your wife, children, friends, indeed your entire personal life!! Come to our Amusement Park."
Someday, after I've broken down and finally started going to therapy, I will be able to see commercials like this and laugh it off as just a silliness that need not concern me.
Some sweet day...
